Faith Formation: Sacraments and RCIC
Reconciliation and Eucharist for Children
Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist is a 2-year process that usually begins in the 1st grade. Children who wish to make these sacraments should either be enrolled in Faith Formation classes, or attend Catholic school. During your child’s second year (typically 2nd grade), you and your child will attend 5 additional Sacramental Preparation Sessions together to explore in a more specific way, the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, how they change and affect our lives, and the logistics of each sacramental celebration.
For more information on Sacramental Preparation and to register your child click the link to download a Sacramental Prep Registration packet. Please deliver your completed forms and payment to the front office anytime during our weekday office hours (M-Th, 9am – 5pm or 8am-12noon on Sunday.) We do not accept mail, fax, or email copies.
If your child has not attended Faith Formation classes prior to 2nd grade, or is in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade and has not yet received these two sacraments, please contact Paula Baytieh for more information on how to begin the preparation process – firstname.lastname@example.org or (949) 218-3131 X104.
RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children)
For children between the ages of 7-10 who have not yet been baptized, we offer an adapted version of the RCIA program – RCIC. Children who wish to receive the sacraments to become fully initiated members of the Roman Catholic Church, do so at Easter Vigil, and spend a year of preparation in anticipation of that day. If you or your child would like more information about this program please contact Patti Wieckert- email@example.com or (949) 218-3131 X101.
