WOHT Outreach Spring 2012 – Sunday, June 10th – New Date – Revised Date & Time – Noon-4pm
- May, 11 2012

Ladies, it’s our time to SERVE! Get ready for Operation Rack Pack (barracks) project. Please feel free to invite other women to attend or participate.
The date as of now is Sunday, June 10th. It’s at Camp Pendleton from Noon-4pm. Around 550 soldiers and sailors who have been serving in Afghanistan will be coming home on June 10th and many will not have anyone to welcome them home. That’s where we come in.
Here’s how these days work:
1. Volunteers show up, check in, and go through a brief orientation to include a message from the command/Marines.
2. The volunteers are broken up into groups and assigned rooms to prepare for returning Marines and Sailors.
3. The groups start with cleaning the rooms and making the beds.
4. When the rooms are cleaned up, then we start the fun part… leaving sentiments of appreciation in the rooms to await their return. We leave gift bags with toiletries, snack foods, towel sets, clothes, drinks, welcome home notes/posters, entertainment packs and more.
5. When done, each group checks out
It’s a very rewarding thing to know that just when a Marine/Sailor thinks he’s been forgotten, he walks into his room and knows that, through the work of strangers, he is appreciated. If you would like to start collecting toiletries to bring on that day and donate to this rewarding group, it is much appreciated. Contact Sue for more information, carpool to Camp Pendleton.

Scripture for the week
Month of May Marian Reflections:
Scripture moment: “She is the reflection of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the active power of God; and the image of His goodness.” Wisdom 7:26
Catholic Moment
Prayer: O Mary, you are the sunshine of our lives. Let your rays of grace shine into my heart and cast out the darkness of sin and despair. Let me fine hope always in your courage, conviction, gentleness, obedience, and purity. Amen
Discussion Questions – Chapter 11 – Who We Are
1. ” We are God’s beloved daughters not because we have proven ourselves worthy of God’s love, but because God freely chooses us.” Think of times when you feel you have to ‘prove’ your worthiness to others. How does this make you feel?
2. Nouwen speaks of chronos time (clock time) and kairos ( God’s time) Is there something we can adjust, change in our life that might help us to free ourselves from the obsession with chronos time? What small steps can we take on a daily basis to live more in the hope of kairos time?
3. As we look ahead, reflect on for a moment, and then write a short response/prayer.
“My sweet sweet child, You are My Beloved, in whom I am well pleased!”
My Abba Father, I come to you today, in this quiet moment……

Catholic Moment
Man cannot live without love. He remains a being that is incomprehensible for himself, his life is senseless, if love is not revealed to him, if he does not encounter love, if he does not experience it and make it his own, if he does not participate intimately in it. This is why Christ the Redeemer ‘fully reveals man to himself.’
–Pope John Paul II
Discussion Questions – Chapter 10: Relationships
1. “Would they be able to face together a world in which there is so little support for lasting relationships”? (p. 175). Give some examples of the challenges that relationships face. Why do you think that the world does not provide stronger support for relationships?
2. “To be truthful, all human relationships must find their source in God and witness to God’s love” (p. 179). Think of a relationship that you are now part of. Does it “witness to God’s love”? If not, what choices do you need to make so that this relationship can do so? How can we be signs of God’s faithful presence among us?
3. “If we truly believe that God loves us with an unlimited, unconditional love, then we can trust that there are women and men in this work who are eager to show us that love”. (p. 184). Are you open to reaching out to develop new friendships? If no, what is keeping you from taking this step?

Hi there Ladies,
Gosh, it seems like forever since we have seen each other. I am so excited about this Thursday’s Women’s Group at Holy Trinity. We will meet at 7pm-9pm at the Main Church. We will be discussing, “Hearing God’s Voice through Journaling. I don’t know about you, but I have such a hard time making time for this. I have experienced the amazing results that come from journaling, yet something always precludes me from doing it regularly. Sandy will teach us different methods that work and that we can incorporate into our daily life. I am very excited for this, as it is one area I would like to implement in my prayer life.
I am also very excited to tell you about two upcoming events that you MUST mark your calendars for.
WOHT Outreach Spring 2012 – Saturday, May 12th
Below is a special message from Sue Horvath our Chairperson for Outreach. She has planned a wonderful event for us to participate in. Please feel free to invite other women to attend or participate.
Ladies, it’s our time to SERVE! Get ready for Operation Rack Pack (barracks) project.
I am so excited to pull this spring outreach project together. I am working on getting all of the details (how many posters to make, etc) but wanted to get some information out to the Women’s Group as soon as possible. The date as of now is Saturday May 12th. That would change only if there are complications with the soldiers trip home–we would know this soon. It’s at Camp Pendleton from 10am-2pm. Around 550 soldiers and sailors who have been serving in Afghanistan will be coming home on May 12th and many will not have anyone to welcome them home. That’s where we come in.
Here’s how these days work:

More information to come. God Bless, Sue
WOHT One Day Spiritual Retreat – Saturday, June 2nd
We have a very holy One Day Spiritual Retreat planned for you. I love these one day retreats. They are local and refreshing and give us the fuel we need to reenergize our spiritual self. Vicki Thompson, Chairperson for Retreats, has planned a wonderful day for us. The date is set as June 2, 2012 and will be from 10am-2pm at our local Flintridge Clubhouse here in Ladera Ranch. We will have a wonderful speaker guide us through a prayerful day, including lunch and some social time with friends from church. If you’ve never been to a retreat before, don’t be afraid. It’s sort of like going to a seminar only quieter, more comfortable, and with a special personal message from God you get to take home. I hope you’ll join us.
Thanks so much for your support of the group and participation in our events. Our Women’s Group is what you make it. The more you participate, the more beneficial it is to you and to us as a Parish Community. We look forward to seeing you Thursday.
Many Blessings,
CaLee
