Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
It is with a heavy heart that I write to you today in the wake of the tragic mass shooting that took place this morning at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Words cannot fully express the sorrow, fear, and anger that we all feel as we hear this heartbreaking news. We grieve with the families and community of Annunciation, and we lift up every victim, loved one, student, teacher, and parishioner in our prayers.
As followers of Christ, we cling to the promise that “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5). In times of such violence and loss, we are called to unite in prayer, to console one another, and to stand as a people of hope and faith.
In a particular way, I want to invite you to pray for the safety and protection of all our children at school, at home, and everywhere they go. Let us commend them to the loving care of our Heavenly Father, entrusting them to the protection of our Blessed Mother.
Please join me in keeping the Annunciation community in prayer during this time of grief. May our Lord Jesus Christ bring comfort to the brokenhearted, healing to the wounded, and eternal rest to those who have died. And may He strengthen us all to be instruments of peace in our world.
In Christ’s love and peace,
Fr. Michael St. Paul, Pastor
