“Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments…” Catechism of the Catholic Church #1213
Holy Trinity Church welcomes families to celebrate with great faith and joy the baptism of their children. As one of the seven sacraments of the Church, it is the grace of God made present through the ritual of baptism that washes away original sin, claims the one baptized for Christ Jesus and incorporates that child into the Church.
Baptism comes with responsibilities. Parents must make a faith commitment when they baptize their child, a commitment to see that the seeds of God’s life and faith that are planted in their child’s heart at baptism, will be nurtured and cared for so that initial faith can mature and flourish at home.
Baptism Preparation class is designed to lead parents and godparents into a deeper understanding of the joy and commitment of bringing their child up in the Catholic faith. The class focuses on the nature of all the Sacraments, with a primary focus on Baptism, explores the role of parents and godparents within the Church and explains the Rite of Baptism. First time parents and Godparents are required to attend a class prior to the child’s Baptism. Parents are also encouraged to attend before the baby is born, if possible, for their own ease and as a prayerful preparation for the child’s birth.
Baptismal Preparation Classes are offered six times a year on the 2nd Saturday of the month in January, March, May, July, September, and November. To register and confirm a class date, please contact the Parish office at 949-218-3131 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. An excellent resource prior and/or as a supplement to class, that you and Godparents are encouraged to access, is the parish online subscription to FORMED – click here. On the FORMED website, use this link to access “REBORN: You, Your Child and the Heart of Baptism”.
Baptisms are celebrated on the third and fourth Sundays of the month at 3:30 pm and are limited to three children being baptized. Click on this link to fill out the Baptism Registration Packet. Return the completed form to the Parish Office. Upon receipt of the completed baptism registration forms we will work with you to schedule a baptism date.
Children over the age of seven prepare to receive the sacraments through RCIA. Please Click Here for more information.
