The Office of Child and Youth Protection at the Diocese of Orange is dedicated to upholding The National Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People by supporting parishes and schools of the Diocese of Orange with all safe environment efforts, including fingerprinting services, background screening, safe environment training for adults and children and development and implementation of related policies.
All diocesan employees and volunteers at schools, parishes and centers, age 18 and above, working in any capacity with minors (children under the age of 18) or dependent adults must obtain criminal background screening and receive clearance.
NOTE: Due to the nature of a parish’s constant evolution of ministerial roles, ALL volunteers are subject to be Safe Environment cleared. The primary goal is to protect children and youth by background screening and training adults in positions of trust.
Additionally, they must complete Safe Environment Online Training (expires every 3 years) before the start of volunteer work.
