Important Message from Fr. Reynold

Hey y’all,

I pray this letter finds you all well and getting ready for Thanksgiving. Speaking of thanksgiving, I want to express my gratitude for your wonderful responses to my homily and related email this weekend! As I mentioned, you are the key to making Holy Trinity a vibrant parish through prayer, service and generosity.

This weekend we listened to the Gospel of Mark, specifically the lesson of the widow’s mite:

“Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.”   Mark 12:43-44

At the heart of this passage is a call to consecrate our life to God; intentionally living the Christian faith that we profess, in our thoughts, words and actions. This requires us to share our time, talent, and treasure out of true love for God and in gratitude for His blessings in our lives.

This Gospel also reminds us that each and every one of us is called to share our gifts of time, talent and treasure in accordance with our means and capacity. By sharing in an intentional and meaningful way, we receive grace from God to grow in Faith, Hope and Charity.

Jesus calls us to make God our first priority through a life of prayer, using our talents to help those around us and by sharing our treasure to further grow His Church.

My friends, it is time for all of us, myself included, to sit down this week and plan how we are going to make God first in our lives. Here are some questions to help you discern how you might put your faith into action:

  • How will I commit to prayer in my life and in my family’s life?
  • How will I use my talents to serve God?
  • What group or ministry will I join to serve God and His people?
  • Will I share the first fruits of my treasure with God or only give Him whatever I have left over?
  • Is my offertory giving a sacrificial gift reflecting how grateful I am to God for his abundant blessings in my life?

This past weekend we distributed Anniversary Stewardship Cards (Click here to download one). Please complete one card per family confirming your current contact information and indicating how you would like to help support Holy Trinity. You may return this card at Mass this weekend or the parish office throughout the week. To search for a Ministry or Group click here and to access your online giving click here.

Thank you for making Holy Trinity the vibrant community it is and for being an important part of our growth. Act and commit as best you can, discerning through prayer, being nourished by the Eucharist and living by faith, hope, and love.

 In Christ,

Fr. Reynold Furrell

Pastor

Anniversary of the Dedication Holy Trinity

On November 11th, 2017 we celebrated the dedication of the new Holy Trinity church building. On Sunday, November 11th 2018 we will celebrate the one year anniversary of this special day in our history as a parish community! Come celebrate Mass with us as we celebrate the anniversary of the dedication – 8:30am | 10:30am | 5:30pm

10/31/18 – As we await this special day in our parish history, we wanted to share a few memories with you over the coming days. For today…do you remember when our current location was just a plot of land? How different our property (and the surrounding area) looks now! Thanks be to God!

11/1/2018 – In 9 days we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the dedication of our new church building! Today’s memory is when Fr.Reynold and Bishop Brown blessed the land before groundbreaking. Were you there? Thanks be to God for His provision and guidance in the early stages of our construction.

11/2/2018

In 8 days we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the dedication of our new church building! Today’s memory is some of the #HTKids helping with the groundbreaking. What was once some dirt, grass, and a overflow parking lot became the foundation of our new church building. “It’s exciting. It’s a good foundation for the family. It’ll be fun to see it from the ground up.”(OC Register article)

11/3/2018 – In 7 days we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the dedication of our new church building! Today’s memory is a short video from our time lapse camera that shows the amazing transformation of a plot of land to a place of worship. It is only a minute long, but it was a year of hard work!

11/4/2018 – In 6 days we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the dedication of our new church building! Today’s memory is a short video from the time lapse camera that captured the beautiful crucifix painting that is at the center of the retablo.

11/5/2018 – In 5 days we will celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the dedication of our new church building! Today’s memory, from the journey towards the completion, is from when we got one of our first looks at the inside.

11/6/2018 – On Sunday we will celebrate the 1 year anniversary of our dedication! Today’s memory from the construction period is a few pictures from the inside once the walls and roof were completed. After years of prayer, planning, and generous giving it seemed like the new building went up so fast!

11/7/2018 – This Sunday is the 1 year anniversary of our dedication. Today’s memory…this time last year we were rehearsing for the Blessing of the Doors and Dedication Mass with Seminarian, now Deacon, Joe. #holytrinityladera #occatholic

All Saints Day

Thursday, November 1st is All Saints Day and a Holy Day of Obligation. We will be celebrating Mass at 8:30am and 6:00pm at Holy Trinity.

All Saints’ Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. It should not be confused with All Souls’ Day, which is observed on November 2, and is dedicated to those who have died and not yet reached heaven. (Catholic.org)

Y1 Parent Candidate Breakfast & Mass

We are excited to announce that this year we will have a new event for our Year 1 candidates – the Year 1 Parent & Candidate Breakfast (and Mass) on November 4th. We will be gathering in the Parish Hall at 9:00am for a light breakfast and a morning of discussion, reflection, and fun with all Year 1 candidates and one of their parents. We will then celebrate Mass together as Confirmation class and community at 10:30am (receiving a special blessing for all candidates and their parents).

Due to limited space (and large group of Year 1 candidates) we are inviting each candidate to attend with 1 parent only. However, the rest of the family are invited to attend Mass with us at 10:30am. If you have any questions please contact Andrew Watson.
